Konsep Pakon pada Masyarakat Madura: Kajian Tindak Tutur

Abstract

Ghuruh Tolang plays a crucial role in maintaining social structure and harmony within Madurese society. This study aims to uncover the significant values inherent in ghuruh directives in the short film "Ghuruh Tolang" by Mata Pena. It constitutes a linguistic investigation focusing on literary works. The study employs excerpts of dialogues containing ghuruh elements obtained through observation and note-taking techniques. During the analysis phase, Searle's Speech Act Theory is utilized. The analysis reveals three concepts of ghuruh directives in the film: ghuruh as trust, ghuruh as command, and ghuruh and obedience. The study finds that the meaning of a directive depends not only on the words used but also on the social, cultural context, and the relationship between speaker and listener. The concept of ghuruh can be seen to hold pragmatic value, where individuals who receive ghuruh from their teacher fulfill the directive without refusal – potentially even changing their initial attitudes.
